Copyright Clause – I’ve Got The POWER! In 1940 the U.S. Const. art. I, § 8, cl 8, gave Congress the power to secure to authors the exclusive rights to their writings for a limited time. You’ve Got The Power!

If you are a corporation this includes your assets, inventory, products, property, programs, courses, inventions that came into existence throughout the life of the company.

All of these creations become apart of your estate, the legacy you leave behind at the end of your life including all the tangible and intangible things you have created. Many are aware of IP and they simply copy / cut / paste without paying the originator of the content. Why is it that so many people never take the proper legal steps to protect their assets? In this article I want to focus on one simple, easy, and quick way to slowdown and hopefully stop intellectual property copycats!

Copyright Clause – You’ve Got The POWER or I’ve Got The POWER!

In 1940 the U.S. Const. art. I, § 8, cl 8, gave Congress the power to secure to authors the exclusive rights to their writings for a limited time.

Always insert a copyright notice on any and all literary works you want to protect. This is something many authors don’t do. You don’t need a lawyer to do this.  For example you will see this notice at the end of this page: © Copyright 2015 Frederick D. Jones Understanding the use and function of this notice is critical. So what is a copyright notice? A notice that a work is copy-right-protected, usu. Placed in each published (draft) copy of the work. Copyrights notice take the form of © (Year of Publication) (name of basic copyright owner).
